It’s truly an honor to serve the community as a school board member. I would appreciate your vote on November 6, 2018 so that I may finish the term to which I was elected (expires 2020). A few things I am doing or have done include:
- School Board trustee (2014-current/president 2017-current)
- Public School teacher (20 years plus)
- Zoning Board of Appeals, member (2014-2018)
- Michigan Education Association, member (current)
- Vice President of Negotiations, local education association
- Michigan Political Leadership Program, graduate
I happily reside in Williamston with my wife and two daughters and have lived in Ingham County for most of the past 30 years. I grew up “Up North” and am the first person in my immediate family to earn a college degree. My dad was a small business owner and entrepreneur. My mom worked at a small factory and as a nurse assistant. They both continue to work. I am thankful to my parents for a lifetime of support and encouragement. I am inspired by my wife who somehow manages to be a hero to our kids, a leader in her profession, and my best friend.
I have been a public school teacher for over two decades. I care deeply about our students and our schools. I am also the president of the Williamston Community Schools Board of Education. My experiences in public education provide the foundation on which I base my school board service. In addition to my experiences as an educator and a parent, I have received training from nationally recognized programs in leadership. I have master’s degrees from both MSU (educational leadership) and the University of Florida (teaching). I am also a graduate of the Michigan Political Leadership Program. While serving on the board, I have completed several courses through the Michigan Association of School Boards in order to learn how to best serve our students.
I love Williamston. I love our downtown and our back roads. I love our winters and our summers and all the great things our community has to offer. I appreciate our sense of community and look forward to our future. With my free time, I enjoy taking day trips with my family. I also like to get outside and play, read, and cook.
Thanks for your support!
